the history of
SAISON Card
SAISON Sans inherits
the identity

SAISON Card made its debut in 1983.
Its logo design was the result of
a collaboration between Seiji Tsutsumi,
the owner of the SAISON Group and a poet and novelist,
and Ikko Tanaka,
a prominent figure in Japanese graphic design.
This design continues to embody the SAISON brand today.
The lifelong commitment of these two visionaries was
to create rich culture
in our lives through business and design.
SAISON Sans, the typeface inherits the identity of SAISON,
is created to preserve and continue this enduring spirit.

f, t, r for “future”

SAISON Sans is a geometric sans-serif typeface defined by its clean, geometric shapes. However, creating beautiful letters involves more than just combining circles and straight lines. The proportions of each letter have been reviewed and adjusted to account for optical illusions with smoothed and refined outlines. Details such as gently chamfering the sharp overshoots of the letters like “M” have been carefully considered. The result is a cohesive and versatile typeface, refined to work harmoniously in a variety of contexts.

Connecting

and connects with people’s lives all over the world.

SAISON Sans Advance Contrast

The subtle modulation of contrast creates a sense of quality
while maintaining a human and emotional touch.

SAISON Sans Advance introduces contrast to the original SAISON Sans design that is composed of uniform strokes. By adding subtle modulations to the stroke thickness, the typeface creates a natural stress reminiscent of calligraphic flows, resulting in a more elegant and refined impression. This not only exude a sense of history and dignity but also enhances readability when composed into text, making it a suitable typeface for conveying the message of the SAISON brand.
